Trump’s Monday Twitter Meltdown Was an Unhinged Word Salad of Easily Debunked Stupidity

On Monday, as many of us expected after FBI Director James Comey testified to Congress about Donald Trump’s wiretapping conspiracy and whether or not there are any Russia-related investigations taking place, Trump went on one of his most absurd social media tantrums to date.

I’ll go through all of these moronic tweets one-by-one:

Being that Clapper is no longer the Director of National Intelligence, he wouldn’t be involved in any current ongoing investigation into possible ties between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials. FBI Director James Comey is involved, and he debunked Trump’s lie when he said:

I’ve been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 elections — and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts. As with any counterintelligence investigation, this will also include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed.

This statement by Comey is a direct contradiction to Trump’s claim considering the FBI just confirmed they’re investigating whether or not his campaign may have colluded with Russia. Furthermore, Comey reiterated on several occasions that Russia’s main goals were to hurt U.S. democracy, weaken Clinton, and aide Trump.

Comey also confirmed that the claim about Obama wiretapping Trump Tower was 100 percent unsubstantiated garbage.

Next up was this gem:

Again, nope. U.S. intelligence agencies confirmed Russia was behind the cyber attack launched against our election, and as I just pointed out, FBI Director Comey stated that there are ongoing investigations into the cyber attack and any possible collusion between Trump and Russian officials — and that one of Russia’s main goals was to aide Trump’s campaign.

Unfortunately for Trump, those two tweets were completely destroyed by Comey’s testimony in front of Congress.

Then he tried to claim that the “real story” is the leaks:

This is just stupid. Leaks have happened during every single administration. Hell, Trump and many of the Republicans trying to make this the “story” have cited leaked information in the past when it benefited their agenda. This is nothing more than Trump and Republicans trying to distract people by claiming the “real story” is about who’s leaking this information rather than the fact there are active investigations into whether or not he may have committed treason.

Of course, he wasn’t done:

Actually, as I wrote about a few weeks ago, Fox News polls also had him losing the election. Moreover, considering he did lose the popular vote by 3 million votes, or around 2 percent of the vote, the overall percentage of the election results predicted by most of these polls (which is what these national polls mostly focus on), were actually accurate within the margins of error.

But as Jake Tapper pointed out recently, Trump has no problem citing CNN polls — as long as the numbers are favorable for him.

Finally, he saved his most idiotic tweet for last:

First, “all the contact”? If you Google “Russian contact Hillary Clinton campaign” all that really pops up are reports where a spokesman for the Kremlin said people working for her also met with the Russian ambassador.

The scandal here isn’t simply a couple of meetings with Russian officials during an election. It’s the number of people with ties to Russia whom Trump’s surrounded himself with, the fact that he refuses to say anything negative about Vladimir Putin, and the people around him who keep getting caught lying about their secret meetings with Russians. Plus there’s always the fact that Trump won’t release his tax returns.

As for the DNC not letting the FBI look into their servers, while it was a stupid mistake on their part, that has nothing to do with any of this. By the time the FBI made this request, Russia had already gained access to this information.

Even when it comes to basic common sense, this tweet is totally asinine. Russia was clearly not trying to help Clinton seeing as how Putin can’t stand her, and she isn’t the one who surrounded herself with individuals who have ties to Russia. She also had no problem releasing her tax returns and telling the truth about Putin’s brand of “leadership.”

This was another pathetic attempt by Trump to divert attention away from his administration by acting as if the DNC was trying to hide something from the FBI and by implying Clinton has just as many shady ties to Russia as he does.

Sadly, this is the world in which we now currently live. One where the leader of this country, and the most powerful person on the planet, is an emotionally unhinged, conspiracy-pushing mental infant who seems to genuinely love embarrassing our country every chance he gets.
