For the last several weeks Donald Trump has been shifting some of his talking points in a blatant attempt to try to appeal to Bernie Sanders supporters. On the surface it sounds rather preposterous that someone who backed Sanders would see Trump as their “second choice,” but there’s a small chunk of the “Feel the Bern” crowd who’s said they’d rather see Trump elected than Clinton.
As I’ve said for months, any Sanders supporter who would vote for Trump loses any right to ever call themselves a “liberal” or a “progressive.” There’s absolutely no sane or logical way a real progressive could go from Sanders to a candidate who’s a racist; bigot; denies climate change; mocks war veterans; belittles minorities; is a blatant sexist; and is the closest thing to a fascist we’ve seen become a candidate for a major political party in our nation’s history.
Well, as I expected, following Bernie Sanders officially endorsing Hillary Clinton for president, Trump took to Twitter to offer an “invitation” for Sanders supporters to join his campaign to help him become our next president — and some of the responses were absolutely hilarious.
Here are some of the best ones I saw:

As a huge Eastbound and Down fan, I’ll end it with a little Kenny Powers.
I could have added a whole bunch more, but I think you get the point. Admittedly, there were a few supposed Sanders supporters who said they were going to support Trump, but the vast majority of the comments I read fell more in line with what I posted above.
Unless the only talking points you care about are someone who strongly opposes trade deals (even though Donald Trump has profited mightily from them, making him a massive hypocrite to build a campaign running against them), there’s nothing remotely similar about Bernie Sanders and the presumptive GOP nominee. So I’m not sure how someone makes the leap from being a “true Sanders supporter,” to backing a candidate who’s basically a fascist. Like I just pointed out, being that Trump has spent years making a whole lot of money by utilizing the very same trade deals he now supposedly thinks are so “terrible,” I don’t know how anyone can take him seriously when it comes to this subject.
Then again, considering almost nothing Trump says is true, to say nothing about how most of his “plans” are just empty talking points meant to elicit a response from a crowd, a person really has to be an idiot to believe anything he has to say.
