The NRA has been at the head of one of the biggest cons in American history. They’re literally supporting policies that are causing the very problems that they claim only guns can solve.
For decades the NRA, through their ridiculous amounts of influence over our government, has done just about everything it possibly could to make buying a gun as easy as possible. Hell, if it were up to them we would probably have street stands selling guns to anyone who walked by and wanted one – kind of like a food cart, but for guns. The truth is, the NRA wants as many guns to saturate this nation as possible.
But it’s not just that guns find their way into the hands of Americans. They want criminals to get ahold of these guns – they’re counting on it.
While they’ll never admit to it publicly, the NRA loves gun violence. After all, what better way to sell more guns than by hyping up the ridiculous notion that the only way to “stop the bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”?
Which is exactly what they do.
The United States leads the modern world in gun ownership and it’s not even close. So, using the logic that “more guns make us safer,” the fact that we have more guns than anyone should mean that we have the lowest rate of gun violence in the world, right? But as we all know, that’s not true. In fact, not only is it not true, but we lead the modern world in gun violence… and it’s not even close.
Now, it’s true, most gun crime is committed by those who obtained their guns illegally. But ask yourself this question: How exactly did these criminals get these guns?
Oh, I know! Because gun lobbyists have spent decades ensuring that as many guns as possible find their way into the hands of these criminals. Then, guess what? They turn around and tell all the non-criminals that they need to fear for their lives because these criminals are armed and the only way to protect themselves and their families is with – you guessed it – guns.
The cycle goes on and on and on.
And I’m not even going to address the “guns give us the right to overthrow our government” people. If you’re someone who honestly believes that, you’re too damn mentally unstable to own guns to begin with. There is no situation in which a democratically-elected government (per our Constitution) being overthrown would be legal, Constitutional or even sane. In fact, doing so would essentially spit in the face of our Constitution and the tens of millions of Americans (and their voting rights) who elected that government. If you don’t like the government our Constitution gives us, you have two choices:
- Adapt and accept that your views are in the minority, while working to change things with the next election. – or –
- Get the hell out.
The worst part about gun fanatics is that they’re completely irrational. They’ve bought into this con so much that they literally can’t see the wool being pulled over their eyes. Since the moment President Obama was elected, the NRA has been professing the gun confiscation he’s supposedly going to perpetuate. And every time they push this rhetoric, based on absolutely zero evidence, gun and ammo sales skyrocket – yet nothing ultimately ever happens.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world laughs at our stupidity about guns. They’re sitting there looking at a country with over 300 million guns leading the world in gun violence, while they have a fraction of the guns that we have and a fraction of our gun violence. This isn’t rocket science, it’s just basic common sense. In fact, more guns lead to not only an increase in gun violence, but in
But it all goes back to the NRA and their love of gun violence. Because the honest truth is, the best gun “salespeople” the NRA has are the criminals out there gunning down innocent Americans by the thousands every single year.
And the NRA is going to make damn sure those “salespeople” keep getting the tools they need to help them sell more guns.
