Will Republicans Finally Admit George W. Bush was One of the Worst Presidents in History?

g-w-bush-idiotWhile liberals have constantly said that George W. Bush was one of the worst presidents in United States history (if not the worst), Republicans have often dismissed those claims.

They couldn’t really use the economy to defend him since we saw one of the worst crashes in United States history as his second term was ending.

But one thing many of them did cling to was the fact that Bush’s “war on terror made America safer.”  In fact, many of them still defended the war in Iraq based on the notion that “history will reflect back on Bush for the great things he did to free Iraq.”

I wonder how those people feel now as Iraq slips more and more into the hands of radical insurgents who are moving closer to Baghdad, threatening to topple the government we helped install.

Oh, I’m sure they’re blaming Obama for pulling our troops out of Iraq.  I guess their “plan” was to just keep perpetually fighting the war over there?  Because that’s totally feasible.

Judging by Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” moment over a decade ago, it doesn’t even seem he thought the war should have gone on as long as it did.

But now that it seems it’s just a matter of time before Iraq falls square into the hands of Islamic insurgents, I think it’s time Republicans finally admit it – George W. Bush will go down as one of the worst presidents in history.

His biggest “ace in the hole” for salvaging the legacy of his presidency rested with his hope that perhaps Iraq would turn into a beacon of democracy and freedom due to his war.  That hope is essentially all but gone.

So what the hell did he do?  He never caught Osama bin Laden (Obama did).  His economic policies nearly sent our country into a second Great Depression.  He doubled our national debt.  He took us from a balanced budget to record deficits.  Over 4,400 American men and women died in Iraq based on a lie and now that nation is falling into the hands of those very same insurgents our troops died fighting (as many had predicted it would the moment we left).  The war in Afghanistan accomplished essentially nothing (until Obama got into office, then we finally found and killed bin Laden).  The American auto industry nearly collapsed on his watch (Obama had to save it).

The list just goes on and on.

Really the last hope Bush had was for Iraq to become a strong, free democracy in the Middle East and history might look back on him and say, “He helped make that happen.”

Instead it seems history will look back on an Iraq, where over 4,400 Americans died to install a government we wanted them to have, that was eventually overthrown and replaced by the very same insurgents that those brave men and women died fighting.

That is unless President Obama decides to do something in Iraq to try to stop the insurgent takeover.

Republicans, just finally admit it: Electing George W. Bush was one of the biggest mistakes this country ever made.

Iraq was a disaster, but disasters can happen. The thing that makes it so heartbreaking is the complete dishonesty of the Bush administration in the lead up to war and the lack of any sort of foresight into the near future of the region with a completely destabilized Iraq.

I don’t think “war” and “middle east” will ever go well regardless of who is running what. The faces may change every few decades, but we are dealing with a region that has too many problems and not enough people capable or willing to solve them.

Whatever interest the U.S has in the middle east are not worth the headache of the political realty of the region.

The only people who can make the middle east a better place to live are the people living there. Somehow, someway enough people have to get tired of living in fear, destitution, authoritarianism racism and every other sort of vice that exists.

This far fetched as this sounds, its going to take people coming to some sort of massive awakening about their common humanity to heal this stuff. Someone has be willing to say I am human, you are human and whatever other bullshit I think I am is something that someone else made up and and conditioned me to believe as a child. That doesn’t mean degrade heritage and culture, it simply means seeing being HUMAN as an actual bond that we all share and far too commonly overlook. In fact when people identify with their humanity, they can actually start to experience and enjoy the beauty and richness of our species as it exists through culture.

Things will never ever ever change until they can get to that point.

    • Jo Clark

And they’re going to have to come to grips with the idea that not everyone has the same set of beliefs. That’s the biggest reason their “holy war” just goes on and on. Each faction there is so immersed in their ideology, that only *their* set of beliefs is the right one.

      Gee, sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

      • FD Brian

if you want peace in the middle east you basically have to kill everyone.

    • Tim Callahan

No, Democrats will never say Obama is one of the worst Presidents because the truth is he is one of the best. It is unfortunate that the Republicans and many other fools will never admit the damage caused to the United States by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice due to the Bush Wars. Most fortunately is that history years from now will confirm the greatness of Obama as President and the dismal failure of George W. Bush as President.

Yes, then you lived under the rule of a corrupt Communist dictator most of your life. I can see how Bush as stupid as he was might appeal to you. On the other hand I am born and raised in the United Staes and have lived through 11 Presidents; we don’t have “President for life” here. George W. Bush has to have been the stupidest and most dangerous President during my lifetime. If you hadn’t lived under a dictator in Venezuela you would understand.

Yes I see now, and it is rather disturbing that a person that has been here only a few years thinks they know more about our country than their own citizens. While I will assure you that you may know more than about half of our citizens, I can also assure you that I have been following politics for some time and I am NOT brainwashed. I do not align with ANY political party exactly for that reason, I also do not watch ANY news broadcasts. I also take articles from biased websites such as this with a grain of salt. When I am trying to form an opinion on a political matter, I attempt to research the facts from unbiased sources, which in today’s world can be difficult to do. Bush, hands DOWN was the WORST president of the last 100 years and I believe of all time.He did NOT love this country or he would not have put us in Iraq in the first place. His failure was lack of intelligence, and I am talking about IQ points, not intelligence about Iraq.

You Venezuelans are just the new Miami Cubans – you see everything through the lens of Chavez, just like the Miami Cubans see everything through the lens of Castro – so you never bother to understand the politics of the U.S. and the real context behind them, compare everything to your own fucked up, failed country, and become reliable rightwing dupes and just regurgitate whatever crazy bullshit the GOP tells you. • strayaway

Pick one but try to work it in the the theme that Bush was one of the worst presidents in history; a statement I agree with.

      • J.D.

Explain how Obama has enriched the 1%, when he has been trying since his election to raise taxes on the 1%? Failure to do so because of obstruction from the right would not count as expanding on a Bush policy. Obama, like Clinton has adopted a middle out economic philosophy based mostly on the teachings and philosophies of Robert Reich.

      • strayaway

Allow me to tell you a tale of Obama stuffing the stockings of the rich on Christmas Eve of 2009 when the country and reporters were distracted. He snuck downstairs in the White House wile everyones slept and signed an executive order transferring billions of dollars worth of bad paper from the banksters to Freddie Mac (Taxpayers) at their face value although much of that paper was underwater or bad loans. That’s just one example. Leaving the Federal Reserve alone to flood the markets with currency.

Really, with a Democratic Congress for two years, how hard did Obama try to raise taxes on the rich? He did eventually raise some taxes and freeze them at half the difference of what they were when Bush temporarily lowered them. That’s about it. Robert Reich is a cheerleader for the 1%.

      • J.D.

lol. You lose all credibility with the last sentence. It proves that you are speaking from propaganda rather than facts. Explain how Reich is a “cheerleader’ for the one percent when his economic philosophy is based on middle out economics and building a strong middle class for this nation. If you know anything about football, that would be like saying Rex Ryan is a pass happy offensive coach. Now to your point of a “Democratic Congress”. Again, propaganda. It did not matter that they had the majority in the Senate. The Republican minority in the Senate filibustered legislation 276 times from 2007-2011. That is what you refer to as obstruction and it does just that, obstructs progress. Now I am not going to sit here and spell out each piece of legislation that was filibustered, but I think I would be safe in concluding that some of them had to do with raising taxes on the wealthy.

      • strayaway

        A. For starters – Reich is fully supportive of the Federal Reserve which has debased our money and benefitted its banker owners over the years. Reich is about spending, debt, spending, and more debt. Eventually, someone is saddled with paying down all of his debt. While China has a surplus and is building its infrastructure and buying up the world’s resources for its future generations, we are saddling our future generations with debt. It’s easy to predict a winner. Meanwhile, our rich get richer. The middle class will continue to shrink unless we bring our jobs back through tariffs and reduce the flow of cheaper foreign labor. What’s the use of training people for jobs that we send to China? Education is for the most part a State responsibility anyway.

So, having both houses and a presidency mean nothing. The buck never stops with Democrats any more. The only hope then for Democrats is a one party totalitarian government without those pesky Republicans sometimes trying to prevent runaway spending. Note: I think most Republicans are big government spenders but Democrats occasionally make even status quo Republicans look like Scrooge. I approve of obstructing runaway progressive spending and debt. It keeps us from going the way of Mugabe or the Weimar Republic.

      • J.D.

Actually Reich and Clinton together managed to lower spending and balance the budget leaving Bush a surplus when he took office. Money needs to be spent on our country to rebuild it from the middle out. We can not compete with the China’s of the world for cheap labor. As Americans we demand a fair wage and safe working conditions without destroying our land. Those things combined make it impossible to compete on a labor basis with the China’s of the world. Globalization of manufacturing is a big part of why the jobs have left. Stuff is designed in the countries that have the best trained and educated people, (i.e Japan, Germany), then assembled in countries that have cheap labor (i.e China, Malaysia, India, etc). With out lowering ourselves to a third world status, we cannot compete with the labor countries. The days of designing, developing, and assembling mass products out of one location are gone. We have failed to adapt to a global market where others have succeeded. Bringing jobs back by tariffs will force the cost of goods in our nation to rise exponentially, and I am sure many people would not go for that. We need to bring the jobs back by building a highly skilled workforce built on skills and education, and not built on unskilled workers. We are not going to rebuild the middle class by employing Wal-Marts and McDonalds. We can either become a third world nation or we can become a highly skilled and innovative nation once again.

      • strayaway

You forgot to mention Gingrich whom Clinton worked with to balance the budget. Too bad Obama can’t do the same with the most moderate Boehner.

      • J.D.

I really hate to inform you that we now live in the year 2014, and that trying to do things the way they did back in the 40’s and 50’s is what put us behind the times now. You can deny the existence or the global market till your blue in the face, it does not change the fact that that is the world we live in now. You can not go back to the ways of old. We need to adapt to the world we live in. It is your regressive type of ideology that is keeping this country from moving forward. Create a labor shortage? Sure, do that, and they will just send the jobs over seas like they have for the last 20-30 years. Yes we need to bring the jobs back, but many of the jobs that left were unskilled
manufacturing jobs. The only way you bring those back is by lowering the cost of labor, thus descending us to the depths of a third world nation. Great plan. We will use your example of a TV. Even if you “manufactured” a TV here in the states, many of the parts are still created and manufactured in other countries, hence the global market. You can open any tv and the electronic parts inside of it are from all around the world. Also you answer your own question. Why are Indian IT people brought in? Because we lack the highly skilled workers to fill those positions. That’s why. Labor jobs are not coming back as long as there is CHEAPER labor in other countries. So we have a choice, adapt and become a highly skilled nation or become a third world nation ourselves.

      • strayaway

I didn’t deny the existence of global markets. I instead put US workers and our middle class interests above those of the global elite. We have a large enough market in terms of population or wealth to build cars, computers, and most other things. Whatever savings would be derived from you global market are mostly those of hiring underpaid foreign workers instead of Americans.

Jobs are being sent overseas. My solution would probably inspire more computerization and robotization to cut higher labor costs but higher productivity per worker always leads to everyone’s benefit. Besides, tariffs would encourage those technologies to be manufactured at home.

Some companies are having their IT workers train Indian workers how to do their jobs to replace them for higher wages. I know of one guy at a Fortune 500 Company who got into trouble for not shipping off a high enough percentage of his work to India. His particular job didn’t led itself to anything that could be done in India so after the second time he got into trouble, he made up some work for the Indians. Someone else I know worked for a company which brought in a lot of Pakistanis. They would hardly work with the Americans and may as well have been left in Pakistan. There really isn’t too much incentive to go into IT curriculums though as the jobs are being given to foreigners.

You are right about one point that I have been making. “Labor jobs are not coming back as long as there is CHEAPER labor in other countries.” to which I keep adding, that it is going to stay that way as long as we don’t protect our jobs with tariffs and other measures. There is nothing stopping our competition from becoming highly skilled either. That’s why India and China are training so many engineers and IT people. They can match us on any skills and still work for less.

One thing we might agree on though is the auto trade agreement we have with Canada. Instead of building duplicate factories, we agreed to import an equal value of cars duty free. This allows one model to be made in Canada and another model to be made in the US to achieve a higher efficiency. We could set up the same agreement with Asian countries, for instance. That way, there would be no duties and US workers would not be hurt since an equal values of autos would flow in each direction. That’s fair trade instead of the ‘free’ trade you defend.

      • J.D.

I am not necessarily defending free trade as much as I am pointing out it is the environment with which we live in. In a capitalistic society such as ours, corporations are always going to seek higher profits, regardless of the effects it has on our nation or our economy. More companies need to take the mold of companies like Costco, Winco, and Starbucks and invest in their workers and society. I once thought that tariffs would also be the answer, but the more I understand the global market the more I do not think that it will solve much. Some South American countries have adopted your ideology to varying degrees of success and failure. Brazil for instance has increased taxes on automobile imports another 30% until 2017 bringing their total tax on imported vehicles up to almost 340% That means a 10,000.00 imported vehicle in Brazil would cost you 44,000.00. They have also done this by adding tariffs and other taxes to other imports. While this does temporarily increase sales of goods manufactured within their borders, the jury is still out on its over all effectiveness. One thing that needs to be considered is that exporting goods usually makes up a good deal of a countries GDP (13.52% in 2012 for USA), and if you have a hard-lined approach to imports, then no one will want your goods when you try to export them. A healthy trade market is essential to the survival of our nation and our economy, we can not isolate our selves in terms of manufactured goods and expect to sustain our economy over the long run.

      • William Carr

The War in Iraq was shut down, the War in Afghanistan is scheduled to end this year.

If you can prove Obama lied, spill. Don’t waste your time with edited quotes though.

For example, Obama said “If you already have insurance through work, and you like your coverage, keep it. Nothing in this Act requires YOU to change your Insurance or your Doctor”.

The pea-brains on the Right seized on this and pretended it was a blanket promise to everybody.

I can’t tell if they were actually that stupid, or if they knew Obama was talking about Group Insurance being unaffected by the ACA but pretended otherwise.

As for spying, Bush started the NSA spying program.

Now, most of it is quite legal because of the Patriot Act.

I suspect Obama didn’t know the NSA was spying on foreign leaders, though. Just as he didn’t know the Phoenix ATF office was still running Bush’s Project Gunrunner.

The 1% enrich themselves, and will continue to do so even if Democrats get the political power to reverse the Tax Cuts for those making more than 1/4 Mill a year.

As far as running up the National Debt, you must be ignorant.

No President can Veto bills signed into law by his predecessors.

Obama walked in with a $1.4 Trillion dollar debt, courtesy of G.W. Bush.

Obama has cut that by more than half, and has approved less spending increases than any President in recent memory.

      • strayaway

Obama took US troops out of Iraq just one month before the Iraqi parliament’s deadline and tried to negotiate a longer stay. Obama is keeping troops in Afghanistan until the end of 2016 (Election year). Why are they still there.

Spill a lie? ok and without changing the first topic. “I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. “ -Barack Obama.

You suspect Obama didn’t know the NSA was spying on foreign leaders? That’s the incompetency defense. Then he sent his appointee Clapper to lie to Congress. No one has been punished in either case.

You are right about the 1% continuing to enrich themselves. The spread between the 1% and the rest of us has increased since Obama became President even relative to under Bush.

The national debt was $.10.6T when Obama came into office. It is now $17.5T with 2.5 years to go for Obama. With a Democratic House and Senate for two years, you are telling us that they couldn’t raise taxes and/or reduce spending? Funny. I think you may be confusing debt with deficits though.

      • J.D.

You are right about the increased wealth of the 1%, but that is a direct relation to an improved economy under Obama. You cannot pin the policies of the last 30 years that have developed the basis of a failed trickle down economics system on Obama. He has tried again and again to raise taxes on the 1% and to close many tax loopholes, while the right has fought this tooth and nail. Other than that, there is not much he can do in a relatively short period of time to undo the policies implemented over the last 30 years. The widening economic gap in this country is far more complex than that of one president. The only way to fix this problem is through investments in the American people through education and training. If you haven’t watched “Inequality for All” by Robert Reich, I highly recommend it, it is very informative. Robert Reich is a former secretary of labor and a current professor at Cal Berkeley.

I do agree with that statement, but we also have to take a step back and look at the unprecedented amount of obstruction he has faced in congress on EVERY single piece of legislation brought forth that could possibly make him or any politician other than the Republicans look good. IF half of the crap that happened under BUSH happened under Obama, he would have been impeached by now.

Explain or STFU. You throw baseless claims without detail. Obama was supposed to make a golden chalice from the Bush shit pile? What a crock.

      • J.D.

And the Republican party has had no hand in that what so ever, right???? You have to say the Republican game plan of painting him as a failure through obstruction has worked to some degree cause there seems to be a lot of idiots out there who actually believe it.

    • Jane_Lane

No, because he’s not. That said, no one sane thinks that anyone who has beef with Obama is racist just by dint of having beef with Obama. The problem is that almost no one who talks about Obama can do so without making it about his race. If you want to talk policy, do that, but if you can’t do that without calling him Obammy or accusing people of only voting for him because he’s black, then why shouldn’t I think you’re a racist?

    • Tom Pryor

Why should they? It’s not based on anything remotely true – if anything Obama may turn out to be one of the BEST Presidents of the last 60 years. And, since there’s nothing real to base all this Obama-hate on – it’s pretty clear that racism IS the underlying motive for most of his critics. Sorry, dude, but your dishonesty about Obama’s actual success just proves your racism. LOL

    • Dave

No, because you’re living in a delusional world if you believe such ridiculous lunacy… W Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice – they all turned out to be a bunch of self-serving liars.. How can any reasonably intelligent person not see that??

  • Avatar

Mistake for elect W. Bush twice? There are more and more proofs that Bush and his team stole our election twice. They practically committed the act of treason yet they are too powerful for us to touch, even to this day. W. Bush is a principal owner of Texas Rangers yet his Presidential salary made it impossible for him to be able to afford that team. Sometimes I feels like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice and his administration used wars as the fronts for stealing taxpayer’s money. $30-50 billion of dollars are still unaccounted for, as said Pentagon. They are the truest and most powerful mafia and sure acts like one.

    • Steve

Dude, do you think that perhaps he made a few coins before he was elected? DOH!

      • Avatar

Duh I know that. I’m talking about W. Bush as being President. He wasn’t good man for non republicans/non corporate families to get along with. His ego is bigger than this world.

      • Steve

So what are you trying to say about his salary as POTUS and his ownership of the Rangers?

No, he didn’t. He lost millions on every venture in which he was involved; mostly oil. Total failure at everything commercial so his daddy bought him a piece of the Rangers to have something to play with and keep him occupied and stop the bleeding of money.

    Highlights of the Bush Presidency:
    – The two longest wars in our nation’s history.
    – The two worst economic recessions since the Great Depression.
    – Worst collapse of the US financial system since the Great Depression.
    – Ignored multiple warnings that we were about to be attacked by al Qaeda.
    – Worst terrorist attack in history.
    – The two worst intelligence failures in our history (9/11 and WMDs).
    – Turned a $200 billion surplus into a $1.4 trillion deficit.
    – Doubled out national debt.
    – Added 5 million people living in poverty.
    – Played golf for 3 days while thousands died from hurricane Katrina.
    – Violated US law and international treaties by authorizing torture.
    – Violated the US Constitution by authorizing warrantless wiretaps.
    – Allowed higher levels of mercury and arsenic in our drinking water.
    – Gutted the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act
    – Set the all time record for most time spent on vacation.
    – Pitiful record on Job creation.
    – Weakened workplace Health and Safety standards.

    • J.D.

How about the worst terrorist attacks. (plural). Many people forget about many of the smaller attacks that happened AFTER 9/11. He also ignored the entire international community while pushing for war in Iraq. He destroyed this country from the inside out and destroyed any amount of credibility we had in the international community.

If the Iraq war had caused taxes to increase exponentially, we would have been out there in 3 or 4 years, but that didn’t happen. Anybody who wants to go back, then pay a 95% tax rate and put your money were your mouth is.

    • J.D.

Of course taxes didn’t go up, because it was the first war in the history of the US that we did not pass any legislation to pay for it. It all went to the deficit, because there was nothing done to pay for it.

      • SBRon

Yep! I believe we call them credit cards…

    • Tim Callahan

No, no tax increase just an enormous debt and interest created by the Bush Wars. WTF??? I hope you don’t really believe what you just ranted.

      • FD Brian

you should probably reread what I wrote.

      • Tim Callahan

Oh, now I understand. I read it too fast and it was a little subtle, sorry. I just remember how Republicans always blamed “tax and spend” Democrats when they were the
spend and spend and spend party but don’t increase taxes, leave that to the Democrats. Sorry again….

      • FD Brian

        no problem

      • J.D.

His point Tim was HAD there been an increase in taxes, then the American people would have demanded a swift end to the wars.

      • William Carr

I think he was pointing out that if we had to PAY for the Iraq War it would have been brief.

In American History, the Revolutionary War was 4 years, the Civil War was 4 years, WWI was 4 years, WWII was 4 years…

People run out of money and the War has to be won or abandoned.

Only the “War on Terror” could go on forever, because it was funded on Credit.

  • Tom

Only if Liberals admit that JackAss Obama is the WORST EVER

    • William Carr

There’s WAY too much competition for “worst ever”.

Hoover(R) that watched the Economy Collapse in 1929 and did nothing for two years…

The Banks started collapsing because people used up all their savings on silly things like food and shelter.

      THEN he noticed.

It took FDR four Terms in Office to repair America after that.

Reagan(R) that cut Taxes on the Rich, raised taxes on the Middle Class, and set us on this downward spiral.

Clinton reversed 3% of those tax cuts and arrested the spiral for eight years.

My question, Gigei, is, if you’re from South America, why do you get to have an opinion on American Politics?

After all, I’m not interested in debating Hugo Chavez with YOU.

Republicans live in an alternate reality propped up by all of their media outlets, it’s gotten so bad that even their politicians believe the lies are fact, I believe there was a day when it was just a political game but there’s plenty of evidence that shows they actually believe the lies. They have been so masterful that even many liberals and independents believe their version of the Reagn years, the man has achieved sainthood. They’ve come up with a total falsehood explaining the economic collapse of 2008, casting all blame on liberals going back to Carter. Talk to any Fox watching Republican, they’ll explain it all, blaming it on low income home owners and government guaranteed loans. They will do the same thing with Iraq and the Bush years. The ONLY thing that will force them to self reflect will be to vote them out of power, to snuff them out in the voting booth.

  • Jess Manuel

It was Darth Cheney who was running the country back then. W was merely a puppet. A dumb puppet.

  • WhatWasHeThinking

To think that we could impress a democratic government – a concept really around only for as long as the US has been around – on a country/region that has worked under a tribal form of government for millenia is incredibly arrogant, in my opinion.

Do I think Bush started off ok? Yes. *gasp*. But we all jumped on the bloodthirsty war-bandwagon after September 11. His policies and decisions since then, however, are embarrassing and laughable. It pains me to no end when I hear people talk about how ‘this is Obama’s fault’, or ‘that is Obama’s fault’, because they have forgotten to look at a calendar. (The latest blame game contestant – the influx of illegal immigrant children. The act signed into law that made this a reality was from Bush, NOT Obama.)

  • Steve

I’m no fan of Bush but to say Obama caught Bin Laden is a farce. It simply happened during his term. I could use the same faulty logic and blame Clinton for 9-11 because he didn’t order Bin laden killed via cruise missiles in the ’90s. It’s also inaccurate to say Obama saved the US auto industry, Bush actually started the $17.4 billion bailout towards the end of his term and he faced HARSH criticism from members of his own party. I agree that Bush was the worst ever, but lets keep the facts straight. please.

  • jon

This country didn’t elect Bush, the supreme court did

  • proud vet

Let us not forget that it was not Obama that sent 5,000 of our best and brightest to their deaths in Iraq just to satisfy a personal vendetta, for the alleged attempt on his fathers life. Of course, the hundred thousand Iraqi innocents do not count do they?It was not Obamas Vice President who enriched himself on those dead bodies. The right has been calling Obama “the worse in history” since the day he was sworn in,before he had a chance to put his agenda out there. But of course race is not an issue right? Fact;I Bush had presented the exact same agenda that Obama has,the right wing nut jobs, would be falling all over them selves trying to get it passed, and be praising Bush and his shadow President Cheney,as some kind of half a—ed Messiah, and would be killing themselves trying to get close enougu to kiss their ————- Feet.

  • Jeremy C

Pathetic ignorance. Oh, yes, 5 years after Bush we’re blaming him for Obama’s miserable cut-and-run tactics in Iraq and total absence of leadership in Syria. This sad refusal to hold Obama accountable for anything is unprecedented in American history, and to blame his predecessor even as Obama floats aimlessly through his second term is beyond preposterous. Hoover was blamed for the Great Depression, not Coolidge. Kennedy was blamed for the Bay of Pigs, not Eisenhower. Johnson was blamed for Vietnam, not Kennedy. Why? Because those guys were in charge and had the ability to DO SOMETHING to make it different. And you liberals love to point out that Bush’s intelligence failures allowed 9/11, not Clinton’s. And then in this desperate piece the author actually tries to get away with blaming the Iraq failure in 2014 on Bush while at the same time insisting it was all Obama responsible for getting Bin Laden. The Left Wing in America lives in quite the fantasy land!

  • suburbancuurmudgeon

Bush was never elected he was selected by the Supreme Court. The networks said Gore won Florida then later said they were wrong. Gee this happened while his brother Jeb was the Governor do you think there was a little something crooked going on here?
